Business Analyst with Derivatives/Collateral Background

Job Description:

Manage the daily support functions for a proprietary collateral aggregation & analysis system, including margin calls/returns of excess, position reconciliation and data integrity.


Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the support functions for Proprietary Collateral Aggregation & Analysis System
    • Monitor & secure daily file capture
    • Perform Position Reconciliation between brokers and client
    • Produce and review daily reports for differences in cash collateral balances, unmatched positions and material differences in initial and variation margin.
  • Client/Broker Liaison
    • Communicate with client and/or broker in a pro-active, professional, efficient manner to report and resolve all outstanding issues on a daily basis
    • Provide required daily/monthly reports to client
    • Assist client in any information requests to support the processing of margin calls or returns of excess
    • Liaise and record for Technology Team client requests (e.g. production support issues, enhancement requests, etc)
  • Maintain System Integrity
    •  Add new brokers and accounts
    • Update broker, account and asset class mapping & aliasing
    • Direct coding modifications as needed
    • Map enhanced or new broker data files into application.

Requirements: 
  • 4 year college degree or 10+ years industry experience
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills; Strong attention to detail with superior analytical and problem solving skills.  Must possess a strong desire to learn, and the ability to work independently
  • Strong Excel skills; basic understanding of Investment Management Administration processes; experience in processing derivatives, margin calls/returns of excess & collateral management.

Operational Due Diligence Consultant

Job Description:

  • Deriving and executing processes and procedures necessary to gather, analyze, and assess information for the ongoing monitoring and oversight of the manager
  • Configuring due diligence questionnaires to assist investors in understanding a manager’s prospects and risks and to provide an all-inclusive structure to the due diligence and monitoring process
  • Evaluating the business infrastructure (e.g. system environment, disaster recovery), investment operations (e.g. valuation procedures, NAV calculations, trade processing), and controls (risk, compliance, operations) in place to support and oversee the execution of the managed entity’s investment strategy
  • Analyzing how a manager and entity managed may perform in different scenarios by reviewing the manager’s history, investment professionals, previous and current portfolios, investment philosophy and decision making, culture, financial incentives and conflicts-of-interests
  • Developing, documenting and articulating findings and recommendations regarding all key aspects of a manager and the managed entity in order to achieve “best practices”
  • Acquiring and evaluating information about the investment manager's:
    • strategy, process and performance record
    • portfolio management staff and firm personnel
    • performance presentations
    • regulatory, compliance and risk management (e.g. offering documents, regulatory filings, audit reports)
    • manager and managed entity ownership structure & domicile
    • 3rd party service providers
Requirements:
  • MUST have 5 + years “hands on” experience with performing due diligence of investment managers
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), relationship-building, and interpersonal skills are critical. Individual should have a high energy level
  • 4 year college degree in business major or a law degree
  • Experience in several of the following areas:
    • compliance
    • industry sponsored standards of best practices
    • current regulatory requirements and guidelines
    • fiduciary (e.g., institutional/pension funds, funds-of-funds, institutional/pension consultants, and other investment advisers)
    • audit control standards (SAS 70)
    • partnership and portfolio accounting (FASB 157)
  • Hedge Fund and/or Private Equity Firm experience a plus
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail, very good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Possess a strong desire to learn, and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient understanding of Investment Management Administration processes - front and back offices. Understanding should include partnership accounting, portfolio management and investor relations.

  • MUST have at least 2 years experience with application development, GUI design and interface building
  • MUST have at least 2 years “hands-on” experience with the following technologies:
    • C#, .NET, ASP.NET, ADO.NET, XML
    • SQL (Microsoft in particular) including stored procedures, SSIS,Reporting Services, etc.)
  • Financial services knowledge would be a plus.
